What does 925 mean?
925 means sterling silver — 92.5% pure silver alloyed with 7.5% other metal (usually copper) for strength. Pure silver is too soft for everyday wear, so 925 is the jewellery standard worldwide.
What is a BIS hallmark?
In India, the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) certifies precious-metal purity. A BIS hallmark on a piece is independent confirmation that the silver meets the stated purity. It is your protection against plated or under-karat metal sold as solid silver.
What is HUID?
HUID (Hallmark Unique Identification) is a unique six-character code assigned to each hallmarked item, giving it a traceable identity. It ties the specific piece to its hallmarking record.
Why it matters for a rakhi
A rakhi you intend to keep — or pass on — should be verifiable. Hallmarking gives it purity you can trust and value that holds over time. “Oxidised metal” or “silver-plated” rakhis carry none of this and tarnish away.
